Hi, In 1962 my wife and I joined the 'Newton and Warrington CTC' cycling club.
The oldest member was a chap called Bill Fisher, and the Club Secretary was John ????
I wonder if anyone out there was a member or has any photos from those days.
Cheers, Griff

The family of my great-grandmother lived at 83 Church Street in the mid-late 1800's. Her father was listed as a licencee. Does anyone know of the RIPLEY family and what no. 83 CHURCH STREET was?

My great-grandfather on my mothers side was also from Earlstown and had a senior position in the pits. He was given a CBE for his part in a mining disaster. Does anyone have information about WILLIAM GEORGE THOMPSON, who lived at a house called 'BOTHWELL BANK'

In looking into my family history I find that my great-grandmother and family lived at 83 Church Street, which I presume no longer exists. There name was Ripley and according to census they were in the pub trade. Does anyone know of a pub in this location or the Ripley family? I 1 would love to know more.

Hi all fellow Earlestonians!! Just come across this site and it is brilliant. Heard of some names long forgotten which brought back happy memories.
I lived in Fairclough St and went to Wargrave Jnr school, then to Patterson St and finally to Selwyn Jones and left in 1966 to start work at Matthew and Sons just near N-le-Willows railway station. Joined the Royal Navy in 1967 and now live in Newcastle upon Tyne. If anyone remembers me say hi.

Hello!
I am working with a local history club in Asker, Norway. We once had a biscuit factory here, Saetre Kexfabrik. They had some of the machines from T&T Vicars. Is there a museum or a collection from this factory? Is it possible to find what kind of machines our factory bought, and maybe have a picture?

My Great Grandfather William Hugh DAGNALL, born West Derby was T T Vicars Foundry Manager when he died in about 1883. My grandfather E J GEORGE boarded with Mr and Mrs Barcroft in Earle Street. Also there was Eleanor DAGNALL Her Mother a HOUGHTON died when she was born and when her father died the Barcrofts took her in. In 1894 she and my Grandfather were married but sadly she died in 1922 in Consett so I never knew her. My father in law told me she was very beautiful and very extravagent!
Any information on William Hugh Dagnall would be welcome.

Does anybody know what became of Locker Industries, Warrington? I Worked there between 1974-1980 in the print room/drawing office. So many lovely characters, and happy memories. Still have my leaving card with all the names, too many to mention, but firstly Dave Ellis from St. Helens who was the office manager, and gave me a lift to work most mornings from Burtonwood. Also, Harry Latham, Geoff English, Mike Jones to name but a few. Billy Davenport who also gave me a lift from the Vulcan Village. thanks!

My granddad was Freddie Haselton - married Sarah Catherine Stansfield (Kitty) Haselton deceased about 7 years ago. Apparently he, or his father was George Formby's muse for "When I'm Cleanin' Windows". He (Freddie) was a well-known character in Earlestown, and was also a chimney sweep. Our family (Walker) left from Cross Lane in 1972. Parents back in Earlestown, me in Africa. Anyone from the C of E Junior School, or Patterson St remember me?

Just been browsing through the guestbook - Tremendous, but so far haven't come across anyone I know although I have been able to help a lady from the USA about her Great grandparents.

Anyway, I used to live in Golborne Dale-across from the golf course; went to Newton Grammar; freqented the Cricket Club; and also the 'Bottom House' when Eric Frodsham was landlord.
Anyone remember me??

Im currently researching my family tree. I am the granddaughter of Edith Sutton born in Wallasey. She was married to Alan Muir. My father is Donald Muir and My Auntie called Eunice (Leech) Her siblings were Joseph, George, Ida, Edward and Marjorie. Her father was Joseph Sutton and mother Edith nee Bagley.I found out that Ida lived in Earlestown with her husband Frank Chatfield, my auntie remembers going to her house when she was younger. Marjorie was married to Peter Singleton and lived I think at Railway View she had a son also called Peter. Would love to hear from anyone who knows them, as my family would love to see any photographs of the family, as we dont really have any.

Many thanks

I lived at 69 Tamworth Street from 1950 until 1963 - attending the District School and then Thomas Linacre School in Wigan. I remember Mrs Porter, Miss Harrop and Mr Lowe at the School. Lightfoot's (Vegetable/Fruit) Stall on the Friday Market stays in mind together with Walkers Butchers. Just before University, I was employed at the Sankey Sugar Works. Close friends were Gordon Blackburn, Geoffrey Taylor and Roy Whittle. The Baptist Church was a big part of my life and I remember Mr kennington and annual productions of the 'Messiah'. Most of Tamworth Street has disappeared !
